Bio
Xiachu Song is a highly accomplished classical violinist originally from China. Born in 1999, she began playing the violin at the tender age of 4 and quickly showed remarkable talent. Her formal training commenced at the age of 11 when she enrolled at the prestigious Tianjin Conservatory of Music Middle School, where she studied under the tutelage of Wenning Guan, a distinguished Professor at Tianjin Conservatory of Music.
Throughout her musical journey, Xiachu has been selected to participate in various renowned musical festivals, including Festival del Lago, ENCORE Chamber Music Institute, and Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival. In the summer of 2017, she was handpicked from a pool of over a thousand applicants to join NYO-China, featuring Music Director of the Seattle Symphony, Ludovic Morlot, along with celebrated pianists Yuja Wang and Olga Kern. The New York Times lauded her performance, stating: "If [the Carnegie Hall performance] was a test run for this new venture, these Chinese musicians scored big."

Xiachu has not only excelled as a soloist, but also as an orchestral musician. She has graced the stage of esteemed venues such as Oberlin's Conservatory's Kulas Recital Hall, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music's Recital Hall, and Voertman Hall in the University of North Texas, captivating audiences with her emotive and masterful performances. She has been an integral part of over 50 concerts during her undergraduate studies, playing with renowned ensembles such as the Oberlin Orchestra, Oberlin Chamber Orchestra, and Oberlin Baroque Orchestra. Her exceptional talent has also earned her invitations to perform with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra at Civic Hall in Richmond, Indiana in the fall of 2021, and the Abilene Philharmonic in the spring of 2023.
In the realm of chamber music, Xiachu has been invited to perform Felix Mendelssohn's String Octet in E-flat Major, Op. 20, with esteemed faculty members of Festival del Lago, including Luke Fleming and Noémie Raymond Friset, in the summer of 2021, showcasing her exceptional musicianship and collaborative skills.

Xiachu's dedication to her craft is exemplified by her academic pursuits. Currently, she is pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the prestigious University of North Texas College of Music, where she serves as the associate concertmaster of the UNT Chamber Orchestra, under the guidance of Julia Bushkova and Chloe Kiffer's studio. She also holds a master's degree from the renowned Jacobs School of Music, where she studied under the renowned Grigory Kalinovsky. Additionally, she obtained a bachelor's degree from the prestigious Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where she studied under the esteemed Sibbi Bernhardsson and Gregory Fulkerson.

Xiachu's exceptional talent and hard work have been recognized through various awards, honors, and competitions. Her accolades include the UNT Academic Achievement Scholarship in 2022, Jacobs School of Music Graduate Tuition Award from 2020-2022, Oberlin Conservatory Dean's Talent Award from 2016-2020, and the First Award of Hong Kong International String Competition Tianjin Division of China in 2014, all of which speak to her remarkable professionalism and dedication to her craft.

In addition to her impressive performance career, Xiachu also shares her passion and expertise with young students through teaching. She has been a valued faculty member of the esteemed Guan Wenning String Art Studio, where she has taught private lessons to budding musicians aged 6-11 years. After her enrollment at Jacobs School of Music, Xiachu continued to impart her knowledge and skills as a private violin teacher for primary school students. Currently, she serves as a Teaching Assistant at the University of North Texas College of Music and a private violin teacher at B&M Music School, where she nurtures and guides young students to achieve high levels of success in competitions such as Solo Ensemble and Sonatina Festival.

In addition to her outstanding musical accomplishments, Xiachu Song has received numerous awards, honors, and recognitions that attest to her professionalism and excellence as a violinist.
